Why should I have a security alarm system?
Study after independent study all come to the same conclusion....properties with an alarm system are less likely to be broken into and premises without an alarm suffer greater financial losses than those with a security alarm system.
A study funded by the Alarm Industry Research and Education Foundation (AIREF), finds that alarm systems are the single most effective measure to help reduce the probability of burglary. Having an alarm system reduces the chances of burglary to about 30 percent of what it would be without any form of security protection.
According to a Canadian Comparison Study:
- premises with alarms are 9.25 times less likely to have a break-in than those without a security system.
- the break & enter rate was 37 per 1000 on properties without an alarm system
- the break & enter rate was 4 per 1000 on properties with alarm systems
This study also showed that total losses for premises without an alarm system were in excess of $11.5 million compared to properties with a security alarm at only $248,000 in losses.
